DEICIDE

INSINERATEHYMN

Roadrunner

2000

The band that just doesn't go away returns again with 10 more satanic hymns. Coming off an album I think to be their absolute worst (Serpents Of The Light) and a pretty good live album, Glen and the boys decide that maybe it's time to change directions, BUT NOT TOO MUCH. Deicide return to the sound they had on Once Upon The Cross, but add a lot more break downs for the mosh morons. The best song on this album has to be without a doubt the first track Biblebasher. Not for the technical musicianship, or the great riffing, or the heavy breakdowns, but for one reason: The Name. What a fucking brilliant name for a song, stupid and simple. "Bash your fucking head in with the book of his insanity." Good enough for me. So do I like this album? Sure, why not, I also like looking at girl's with ugly faces and hot bodies. Because you can always look beyond that fucking horrible pig-like face and check out that great ass. It's a good and bad situation. Good are some of the songs, bad is the idea. Deicide have remained one of the longest lasting bands, but they haven't changed any of the content of their albums. Sometimes that's a good quality, other times it gets boring. I'm not bashing Deicide, why should I? They have accomplished a lot as a band, put out successful releases, made Roadrunner probably shit loads of money with getting little support from them. They are a working man's band, they are either writing or touring, something I respect, but possibly they could be getting burnt out. I just don't get the same feeling I did the first time I listened to 'Dead By Dawn' or 'Dead But Dreaming'. Thanks again boys...
