In
the beginning of Dimmu Borgir (in 1994) the only
bandmembers that didn't left the band today are vocalist
Shagrath and guitarist Silenoz they're still in the band,
the succes of the band probably gives many stress to the
members and many can't take the stress anymore, that's why
they left the band. After Nagash (The Kovenant) the
drummer Tjodalv (taken over by Nick Barker) also left the
band, and today the day also the guitarist Astennu left.
The leader of the band Old Man's Child is now taken the
place of Astennu. I don't know what Borknager is doing
lately, but Simen Hestnaes has left his previous band
I.C.S. Vortex and is now for real in Dimmu Borgir. After
all of the changes in the band, the band isn't changed by
quality, that I think is a good thing!
Let's
get to the point now. If we compare this album with their
second 'Stormblāst', I can only say that the band sounds
today more complexed and more wicked. You only have to
listen to songs like 'Blessings Upon The Throne', 'The
Maelstrom Mefisto', 'Indoctrination' and 'Sympozium' then
you will know what I mean. But still I think they could do
better, and I think their previous 'Spiritual Black
Dimension' was better!
But
this new album is still worth to buy!
