Why
is Jussi Linna out of the band?
We
finally kicked him out in December '99. We did so simply because
of his total lack of responsibility, creative thinking and
discipline. It doesn't work with a person like that in a band.
At least not in Vomitory. He had a good voice but it really
takes more than that if things should work fine. So now Erik,
our bass player, is doing the vocals and now as a four-piece
band everything works great!
The
other two albums were released by the dutch Fadeless Records why
did you go to Metal Blade?
After
the release of "Redemption" we felt it was time to try
to take a step further and move the band forward. So we simply
sent "Redemption" to a few labels that we liked and
Metalblade was one of them. They really liked our stuff and we
think they are good as well so we signed for them. We were still
very satisfied with the work from Fadeless records but we simply
wanted to move on. I think MetalBlade was a very good choise
since they have a lot of great acts under their wings today.
It's also one of the oldest metallabels in the world which means
that they have a lot of experience in the business.
What
can we expect of Vomitory in the future?
We
will do some shows here and there, but at the moment we have no
bigger tour planned. We will play some festivals this summer as
well. We plan to enter the studio in November again to record
our fourth album and have it released in early 2002.
What
do you think of people that find Vomitory sound American?
I
fucking hate them! No, just kidding, ha! Personally I don't
think we sound American at all, but people listens to music
different and if some people think we sound American... well, I
don't care.
What
do you think about other death metal bands dealing with this
label: Vader, The Crown, God Dethroned, Immolation, Cannibal
Corpse, and Six Feet Under? Do you know each other?
Vader
is one of my absolute favourite bands. Cannibal corpse, The
Crown and God Dethroned are also very good. We only know the
guys from Cannibal Corpse and The Crown and we're a bit
acqainted with the Vader guys.
Could
you compare "Revelation Nausea" to your previous
albums? If you were just a fan, would you buy those CDs?
Why?
"Revelation
nausea" is the fastest, most brutal and intense album so
far. I know it sounds cliché but it's the truth! The production
is also the best to date. Part from that I don't think the
difference from "Redemption" is so big. The style and
quality of the songs are pretty much the same. It's a much
bigger difference from our first album, "Raped in their own
blood", to our two last albums. Especially the production.
At that time we couldn't afford a professional studio and had to
take what we could. If I didn't play in Vomitory I would
probably buy the albums 'cause it's the kind of death metal that
I like. I mean, we like what we're playing.
Are
members of the group involved in any other projects?
None
of us have any side project. Well, Erik has a band called
Obscure, but they never rehearse or play gigs nowadays. They
only record their stuff once in a while. Their style is regular
heavy metal.
