The
theme of the new Marduk album 'La Grande Danse Macabre' is
this time not war, but death and then we need a macabre
and exploding atmosphere. The previous album 'Panzer
Division' had more a war atmosphere. As the intro
'Ars Moriendi' is done we can hear the raging song
'Azreal', this song sounds much like the previous stuff.
But that changes fast!! The next song is 'Pompa Funebris
1600' this song is a slow and instrumental song, and then
the song 'Obedience Into Death' good song with extreme and
parts mid-tempo riffs. This song made me think of the
'Nightwing'-album. In such a song you can actually find
everything that Marduk makes special: nice breaks, great
riffs and a good chorus.
The
bloody 'Death Sex Ejaculation' keeps the tempo up, and
makes me think of the SM-theme on the mini-cd 'Obedience',
the lyrics are about a girl that fucks Satan. The quite
boring song 'Summers End' makes me think of the band Morgan
and sounds like it has been forgotten to make an end
included to the song.
Conclusion,
good album, worth to buy.
