MORBID ANGEL

GATEWAYS TO ANNIHILATION

Earache

2000

After the previous album 'Formulas Of Flesh', Morbid Angel is back with a new album calt 'Gateways To Annihilation'. After the previous singer David Vincent, there's a new vocalist/bassist Steve Tucker he did also a very good job on this album with writing various songs and shit. Second guitarist Erik Rutan, that returned to the band a few months ago also is hearable very present on 'Gateways To Annihilation'. The biggest difference from this album with the others is that on this album you have more grinding mid-tempo riffs and slipping, doomy melodies. A sight of Morbid Angel that we actually all knew from a few songs like 'God Of Emptiness', but this wasn't included in all of the songs only just a few. The deep grunt from Tucker sounds on slow riffs even more threatening than it was before. The I think very good song and experimental song 'Secured Limitations' includes a vocal duel with Azagthoth and Rutan. The album also includes some fast songs like 'Opening Of The Gates' or 'God Of The Forsaken' and a extraordinary dynamic song calt 'Ageless, Still I Am'. The only shitty thing is that the drums on this album sound a bit digital, but it still is a good album. It's more musical and less commercial. I think you should buy this album, if your a real metal-fan.
